Instructor Errors Cause Plane Crash. A flight instructor giving lessons at 3:00 a.m. failed to reconfigure his aircraft after landing for a touch-and-go take off. The aircraft, struggling to climb off the runway with flaps at landing settings, began to experience engine issues. The pilot further then impaired engine performance by adding Carburetor Heat, then turned the aircraft into a sharp bank to the right. In this accident reconstruction, employing radar trace data, we follow the flight from final approach, through touch-and-go landing and take-off, (showcasing the flaps still in landing configuration) and back into the air, and thru the sharp right turn as the aircraft finally loses all lift and crashes.
